The Adelaide Oval is all set to host the ENG vs IND second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on November 10. India have already played a game in Adelaide and are better aware of the conditions they are going to get. Meanwhile, this is England’s first game in Adelaide. This is England’s third straight entry into the semis. They also played the final in the 2016 edition losing out to England.
Team India, after making a league stage exit in 2021 has topped Group 2 to make the semis. They defeated Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands only losing out to South Africa. Virat Kohli has been in prime form in this World Cup top-scoring with 246 runs so far in the tournament. He also has scored five hundreds across Tests and ODIs at this venue. In two T20Is, he has scored 164 runs without getting dismissed.
Jos Buttler‘s form is a concern for England as is Rohit Sharma‘s for the Indian management. Buttler has scored just 119 runs in four matches averaging 29.75. Sam Curran and Mark Wood have led the charge with the ball sharing 19 wickets between themselves.
In terms of head to heads, India have won 12 out of the 22 T20Is played against England. Despite England’s run so far, they are a threat to India for the semi-final. They boast of a side that is full of all-rounders and on their day can win matches single-handedly.
Their bowling attack also has the necessary variation with the pace of Mark Wood and the guile of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid. India won the last T20I series they played earlier this year against England in England. Both these teams have played against each other enough in the last couple of years to know about their strengths and weaknesses.
